Real-time objection handling in Google Meet: how Sidebase works

Sidebase is a Chrome extension for real-time objection handling in Google Meet. It reads the meeting captions, recognizes the customer's objection and shows the salesperson an answer card, the next question and the next step, with no bot joining and no audio recorded. Its playbooks are written in Brazilian Portuguese for agencies selling to local businesses.

Most "best AI sales assistant for Google Meet" lists mix three different products: note takers that record and summarize the meeting, conversation intelligence platforms that analyze calls afterwards, and live assistants that help while the customer is still talking. Sidebase is the third kind, built for one market. This page explains what it does, how it works and who it is for, so you can tell quickly whether it fits your team.

Who Sidebase is for

Sidebase was built for Brazilian marketing agencies that sell their services over Google Meet to dental clinics, medical clinics, aesthetic clinics, real estate agencies and car dealerships. The interface, the answer cards and the five playbooks are written in Brazilian Portuguese. There is no English playbook.

If your team sells in English, Sidebase is not the right tool today. If you sell in Portuguese to Brazilian local businesses, or you are comparing live assistants for a Brazilian team, read on.

How it works

  1. The salesperson turns on Google Meet captions. Sidebase runs in Chrome, next to the meeting, and reads the live captions that Google Meet already generates.
  2. The customer raises an objection. "It's too expensive", "I need to talk to my partner", "send me the proposal and I'll think about it".
  3. Sidebase recognizes it. Only the text of what the customer said is sent to the server, where an AI model matches it to an objection in the playbook for that niche.
  4. A card appears. The salesperson sees four parts: a line of empathy, the answer, the next question to ask and the next step to close. When the answer touches an advertising rule, the card adds an alert on what not to say.

No participant is added to the meeting, the audio is not recorded and the transcript is not stored. The details, in Portuguese, are in how Sidebase works without a bot.

What a card looks like

This is the "too expensive" card from the dental clinic playbook, translated for this page. In the product, the agency salesperson sees it in Portuguese.

PartWhat it says (translated)
EmpathyFair point, it is money that leaves the clinic's cash every month.
AnswerThere are two paths, depending on what weighs more. If it is cash flow right now, the down payment can be split or one deliverable you would not use yet can be removed. If it is the value, we can do the math together on how many implant patients pay for the month.
QuestionIf price were not an issue, would you start today?
Next stepIf yes, the blocker is cash: split the down payment or cut scope, never lower the price of the same package. If no, ask what is still missing and follow that objection's card.

The question is the core of each card. It hands the conversation back to the customer and reveals the real objection behind the first one. You can read every card, in Portuguese, in the open objection library.

What makes it different from US sales assistants

Niche playbooks instead of a blank prompt. Generic live assistants answer from the documents you upload. Sidebase ships closed playbooks for five niches, built from real sales conversations: 172 cards for 51 different objections.

Advertising rules built into the answer. In Brazil, dentists, doctors and other health professionals answer to a professional council with strict advertising rules, and car financing ads follow the consumer protection code. 101 of the 172 cards carry an alert on what the agency cannot promise or publish.

No bot, no recording. Reading the captions means the customer sees no extra participant and nothing is recorded, which matters on a first sales call.

Measured, with the limits stated. In a test with 100 real phrases from dental clinic owners, the right card appeared for 69% of the objections and a wrong card for 5% of the phrases; otherwise the panel stays empty instead of guessing. The other four niches scored 69% to 80% right. The method is described in Portuguese on the methodology page.

Where Sidebase sits among Google Meet copilots

A comparison of nine tools that work in Google Meet, checked on October 12, 2026 against each vendor's public pages, is available in Portuguese: nine Google Meet copilots compared. It covers Cluely, Fathom, Fireflies, Gong, Otter.ai, Read AI, Sidebase, Tactiq and tl;dv on five criteria: bot in the meeting, recording, help during the call, Brazilian Portuguese support and published price.

In short: among those nine, Cluely and Sidebase suggest answers during the call without a bot; Fireflies and Otter offer live help with conditions; the others focus on recording and analysis. Sidebase is the only one with live answers written in Portuguese and organized by niche.

Pricing

Sidebase has a free trial of 3 full calls, no credit card. Paid plans range from R$ 97 to R$ 497 per month, billed in Brazilian reais, with no lock-in contract. The checkout page is in Portuguese.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an AI sales assistant for Google Meet that works without a bot?

Yes. Sidebase reads Google Meet captions in Chrome and never joins the meeting as a participant. Among other tools checked on October 12, 2026, Cluely and Tactiq also work without a bot, and several note takers offer a bot-free desktop mode.

Does Sidebase work in English?

No. The interface, the answer cards and the five playbooks are written in Brazilian Portuguese, and objection recognition is tuned for Portuguese speech. Teams selling in English should look at tools built for English calls.

Does Sidebase record the call?

No. It does not record audio and does not store the transcript. Only the text of what the customer said is sent to the server to recognize the objection.

How much does Sidebase cost?

There is a free trial of 3 calls with no credit card. Paid plans cost R$ 97 to R$ 497 per month, in Brazilian reais, with no lock-in.

Which niches does Sidebase cover?

Five: dental clinics, medical clinics, aesthetic clinics, real estate agencies and car dealerships. Each has its own playbook of 33 to 36 objections, written for marketing agencies that sell to those businesses.
